I’ve been seeing the posters about the Creators Stamp Rally for weeks, but didn’t pay it much attention. But a few days ago I ended up with two of their cards, and finally decided to check what it was all about today.
What a trip that was. 🙂
Following up on that lead gave me the locations of quite a few Japanese sims I didn’t suspect existed, and greatly expanded my wardrobe of things that “aren’t exactly cosplay, but close enough”, so it now includes a KOS-MOS style costume, a uniform very clearly inspired by Masamune Shirow artbooks, and the prizes are quite worth the trouble.
To keep a long story short, some of the products in participating stores come with a card. You are meant to take this card through the entire list of 20 participating stores, and use a machine to stamp it at each location. A fully stamped card lets you pick one of a selection of twenty prizes, which are well worth the trouble.
I took the cards and went running through the shops. Halfway through I had to start turning the rendering toggles off for speed. Once I got my prize, I went through the list again to study the shops more carefully, and pick up the things that caught my eye, and ended up with three more cards… So I had to do it yet again!
50 jumps in quick succession caused SL to screw up the Windows network stack (How the hell does it do that anyway?) but still it brightened the otherwise unpleasant day quite a bit.
